The GEN.100 exhibition is particularly meaningful to us, as it tells the story of our home Gdynia. In designing it, we wanted to showcase the city’s 21 districts, each with its own history and hidden, unexpected corners. Multimedia elements designed for younger visitors also play an important role in the exhibition. The animals of Gdynia make an appearance too, guiding visitors through the exhibition.
An important premise of the project was to approach materials responsibly and consider their future use. In line with the principles of a circular economy, we reused wooden frames from previous exhibitions and hemp boards, which were used to create partitions and structural elements. Leftover materials were transformed into animal figures and elements of the educational trail, while the cotton fabrics can be given a second life once the exhibition comes to an end.
GEN.100 brings together the story of Gdynia, experimentation with materials, and the search for more sustainable approaches to temporary exhibition design. It is a space that invites visitors to explore – sometimes by lifting, revealing or moving an element, and sometimes by making their own choices about what they want to see and hear.
