Gdynia

„In Gdynia, It Never Rains” is an innovative historical and sensory exhibition that transcends the traditional boundaries of contemporary museums. The exhibition, held at the Gdynia City Museum from July 7, 2024, to February 28, 2025, is both a tribute and a love letter to Gdynia as a summer resort during the first thirty years of the 20th century. This heartfelt message, conveyed on behalf of the seaside town’s residents, was crafted by three remarkable women: curator Gosia Bujak, graphic artist Eugenia Tynna, and architect Dorota Terlecka, who together gave it its distinctive form.

The phrase „In Gdynia, It Never Rains” is frequently heard among locals, much like the characteristic saying „It’s clearing up,” which also refers to the weather. It embodies a sense of hope and an affirmation that nothing—not even the weather—can hinder holidaymakers from enjoying their rest.

Sea, Sand, and Algae

Gdynia, as a summer resort, promises a successful vacation filled with relaxation, fun, adventures, and beach pleasures. We aimed to capture that promise by creating a space that mimics a child’s ideal seaside adventures. The exhibition features a sea, plush fish, algae, and even a slide, all alongside historical information about Gdynia’s past under an ever-present sun. As we say in Gdynia, „In Gdynia, It Never Rains.”
